Does anyone know the story about the Strilitzias?
As I remember it (and this should by no means be taken as reliable),
the Strilitzias were once birds.
The noisy, sqauwking kind. Now, I think what happened was that they pissed off this Magician and he turned them into flowers as punishment. Does anyone know how it goes?

Hmmm, birds what an intresting idea, I think they might have made the magician feel ugly.
Oh and yes I need to take charge of my own diet. That red drink was water with colourants in, hence no cals.

i have it from a pretty reliable source, ie. marilu that they were once bird who were the prettiest and obviously most vain creatures in the animal kingdom. they thought they were better and had to then give up the freedom of flight to become one of the prettiest flowers in the plantkingdom. u think they are still vain?

Yeah. Wes is right about the story. Some extra details:
They were the most vain birds and believed that they could get away with anything. They often ruined the humans' crops, feeding noisily with a complete sense of disregard to whose lands they were feeding from.
King Lion warned them, but they laughed him off, saying that they are the most beautiful creatures, and they can do whatever they like.
After another public feeding session, King Lion lost his temper, and placed a curse upon them: They'd be planted in the ground, their freedom taken from them. But he left them their beauty. So at least, they can still be admired.
